Edouardo is on his way.......

Hurricane Hell is upon us, or the over eager media is hyping it up! Anyway you look at it, Eddie is coming to town. Per the noontime news, Galveston is basically shutting down and going into preparation mode. Evacuation is a personal decision at this point and time. They showed some tourists from Dallas that were undecided, I had to think they should be on the road now, you get stuck in the evacuation traffic and it's going to be a crappy vacation! Probably out of gas before you reach Houston! or worse, stuck on the expressway when the winds are coming in, neither a good scenario.

We've (ok, Steve, and Jordan helped too) moved all the backyard furniture to the garage, and the backside of the house. Later we're moving the plants to the side of the house. Thankfully, I don't have to take down all my stars off the fence. The kids have been told they're sleeping downstairs tonight. We've filled the truck up with gas, bought a couple cases of water, and went to the ATM for cash, so that's as hunkering as we're doing!

Depending on the side that hits, we could be getting the dirty side (again); which means the winds, the rains, and more than likely the lack of power. We fully expect a plant closure in Houston tmw, and all will be hunkering down! We haven't run our generator since Rita, so I guess we'll be getting that out. Last time we syphoned gas from our Toyota to maintain both our neighbor and our generators. It all evened out, we had to use some of his survival gear (Bud-light) since we ran out. Necessities for neccessities, it's the neighborly thing to do.

So I won't be blogging for a couple of days.......Hunkering in Houston!

Hunker away!

It is unfortunate that we have to doubt the urgency thrown at us by the media. They cry wolf too often and then everyone wonders why no one evacuates? Hm, trust the reporters with your life? How ironic.
