School year 2010 - 2011 has begun

So, today was the first day of Jordan's Senior year, and the first day of Ali's Freshman year. They were up early, and out the door by 6:45am, Ali had her map in hand, so she could manuever around the school to find her classes.

Jordan's senior year is going to be tough academically, but a relief regarding time management. No yearbook this year, means free time, or study time, but time is time!!! It is going to be a relief, and pleasing to know she can go to what game she wants to, and actually watch them, converse with friends and have fun, the only bummer will be, not being on the field, for the best seat in the house!!!

She has changed her major again, rather than medical, she's going law. Her 4-year degree is going to be in what she loves, electronic media & photography. Where is she going you may be asking, no worries, we're all asking that! We have visited UTSA (University of Texas - San Antonio), UofH (University of Houston), UNT (University of North Texas), all are nice, UTSA is out, they don't carry her major. UofH has a great Electonic Media program, best in the state. UNT has one too, and she really likes the campus. We're going in October to visit Texas Tech, and she's got Southwestern on her radar now as well. She's scheduled for SATs on October 9th, and then the college applications begin (well she's started applying already) so it'll be exciting to see who all want her! She's in the top 11% of her class, which we are very proud of. She's number 86, of 790, so she's only 7 away (and we're all keeping our fingers crossed that 7-10 people flunk)!!! This is going to be a busy year with all the college preparations, and senior activities.

Ali is not excited one ioda about freshman year, she really wanted to go to Cy-Fair, not Cy-Creek, most of her friends are going to Fair, we're zoned to Creek, so Creek we go. Once she's there a week or two, things will be fine. They have a new schedule format they're using Creek as a trial run on, they go to all their classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, They go to extended hours of class on Tuesdays, and not all of them, and then finish the extended hours of class on Thursday, but have early dismissal at 1pm that day. They're trying to operate more like a college, and they've had to chose "careers" so they have elective classes based on their career choice. Ali picked Education/Trainer, so we'll see.

She will be in an Athletics class, specializing in basketball for her first period, so I'm going to assume that she'll meet a bunch of team mates, and new friends in this class.

Ali's AAU coach asked her to be in an All Stars Game, but we had freshman orientation, so she couldn't. We'll be starting workouts again with the AAU team in September, we're taking a break from it at the moment, but still doing training on Sunday nights, and open gym on Mondays.

Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with my blog more
